thoughts, from my head

What makes you happy? What do you do - that when you are done - you say, wow, that made me smile! Or what happened to the time?? Or I can’t wait to do that again, when can I come back?? Can’t this moment last forever? Or how can I do this everyday?? Don’t you love it when you do something that feels so right, you glow? When was the last time that happened for you?? Hopefully you know. And if you don’t – FIND IT!

What I love about the world is that my idea of happy and your idea of happy are most likely completely different. What makes me happy and you happy are also most likely completely different. I love that. I love that we can all have different experiences and different lives. And that we can all look at each other and say, wow, I am glad that they found that. And I believe that our happiness comes from using the gifts and talents that God gave us. When we use what God gives us, it fits, it feels right – and it makes us happy.

And then it all goes back to my favorite idea of the world, that when we look around at the world it looks like the underneath of a tapestry. What does the underneath of a tapestry look like? It looks like a mess – with strings going everywhere. The strings stop and start suddenly. The colors have no pattern. And this is what the world looks like to us. But to God, who built the tapestry and looks at the other side, it is a beautiful picture. A picture created by our talents and gifts. We are all a part of that tapestry. Thank goodness that we are different – what a boring tapestry it would be if we were all the same.

What in the heck I am I talking about? I don’t know. I just thought I might share a few of my ideas about life. And I do know what makes me happy. Taking care of myself, spending time with my family and friends, playing sports, and my new - found recreation, ice skating. Go figure, my new happiness was found on a lark, with friends, being silly. So, tell me what makes you happy! Or try one new thing – you never know what you might just find!!
