Whew, I actually get to sit down today!!

First - A message from Kelli - her computer is off visiting the computer doctor :( It wouldn't wouldn't turn on - so it is off getting fixed!! She says "HELLO!" and she can't wait to get her computer back!!

Okay - so I skated today!! Yeah!! Skate blades with edges make a huge difference!! I did outside edges around the rink, a spiral (my leg was actually even with my head!) and a one foot - scratch spin!! I was so happy!! After I managed a scratch spin with over 6 revolutions - I went "Yeah!" out - loud - yes, people looked at me, but heh, I was proud of myself! And no falls!! My knee was very greatful!! So I just have to wait until Thursday to skate again, :(

Some links for you tonight that I did steal from other blogs:

This comes from a really wierd site - and some of the stuff is, um, beyond wierd . . . so just enjoy this post!!

Too much blog time today!!

Here is a link I needed, um, two days ago!

http://www.skatingsafe.com

Summer

Now this one would have been tempting when the girls were little . . . Maybe you could use it??

And the pictures continue . . .

The kitchen countertops Kelli?? I guess you haven't seen them yet!!! We put these in with our tax refund the year after the girls were born!! I tiled the backsplash with DH's dad - and we love it!! We also put new hardware on the cabinets, and our parents bought us the new stove! (The old one was electric - but we had a gas connection - and I wanted to use the gas!) Then I kept taking pictures - one of Mr.Blue - the oldest Beta ever (almost 4 years old) and Goose - who is looking a little Gray around the face - but as lazy and as hungry as ever! So enjoy!

We loved this granite! But you can't see if they are dirty or not - which is great, except when you put something down on them and the counters are dirty. It happens all the time!! There are crumbs or spilled juice - and it gets on everything. But then when people come over - I don't really have to worry about the countertops because they look clean! And because I am using the digital camcorder - the colors are really dark - it actually looks a lot brighter than these pics!

So this is the tile - we just bought it at Home Depot - and it was a really cheap backsplash. And I learned how to use a tile cutter - and install tile. It is really easy!! The granite was a splurge. But the countertops were cream laminate and they were coming apart on the edges and were really stained!

Mr. Blue and Goose - the other kids in the house!

The blog I thought would never end and get published . . .

Well, I went skating yesterday and I loved my mom's skates!! It was awesome having ankle support and blade that actually had an edge!! I improved and then remembered that these skates have a really wicked toepick. So yes, as you can imagine, I was skating along. Practicing my mohawks, when all of sudden . . . Toepick! And down I went, knee, chest, pride. But as soon as I stopped sliding across the ice, I got right up and acted as if nothing had happened. But later, after the session was over, I sat down and looked at me knee. Wowser, it was bruised. When A and B saw it later on, they were impressed that I had a 'purple boo-boo!' So I had to take pictures of my first adult skating career injury and share it with all of you!! Then since I had the camera out - I decided to take pictures of the furniture that I 'inherited' early from Joe. And then I took pictures of the kitchen, and realized that I need a maid. Yup, I need a maid. Too bad I won't get one, so today, will be "I am the Maid day" and after I finish this entry for a second time (A and B tried to help me) I will get to work. . . .

My Left knee - the 'purple boo-boo!' It really doesn't look that bad here - but it is really hard to take a picture of your own knee.

So here are the pics of the new furniture! I really do like the round table, clawed feet and all. And it all seems to coordinate with the new paint that I did in December!! Luckily!

This is was I call the Saloon! Picture a bartender behind it, bar stools in front and a display of liquor bottles along the top - and - VIOLA - an old west saloon!! But it does have alot of storage space and DH never thought he would own furniture with toenails!! The clawed feet do have impressive detail!

And this is my original buffet that we shipped over from Granny's house in Scotland. It is really more my taste than the 'saloon.' But I just don't have anywhere else that the saloon will fit. And I just wanted to take a picture of it - because it completes the set of pictures of the 'real' furniture that we have in our house.

TOO MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS . . .

This is crazy, I have been surfing the net - way too much in the last few days!! But now I have found so many wierd and fun things - I just can't stop surfing!! And now, the women's ice skating is being broken into by the other sports, and I have to wait for it to come back . . . aagh, do any of you actually want to watch speed skating?? I mean I really respect them, b/c that it is hard and very athletic - but I was ready to sit and wear my mom's skates and watch the ladies compete. Oh well, I will just have to put them back on again later!!

So anyway, links I've stolen from other sites to share with you today. . .

Hum, have you ever used one of these . . .

That's all folks. Nothing new here. No snow, just a dreary day, that I spent surfing the web while the girls played the 'draw with the marker on my face' game. I love washable markers. How did parents survive without them.

And still . . . . no skates. So one more day tomorrow with rentals but my mom's skates should arrive tomorrow afternoon - I have been tracking them on UPS.com. But I have a tennis lesson during the freeskate on Thursday that I can't get out of. Maybe I can get a sitter to come on Friday - so I can skate . . . hum. Anyone free on Friday morning???

Have a great night - oh, I did have a little happy skating moment today when my mom told me that she sent me her old skates through UPS on Friday. We think they may be the size I need . . . and the are made by the same company that I ordered from this time . . . so I hopefully could use them until mine come in - because - I just can't use the rental ones anymore - I will hurt myself - for real!! She bought them when I was skating, because she used to get bored sitting there waiting for me sometimes, and since she was paying for the ice time - she liked to use it too!! Cross your fingers - they are usuable!! Hum, how old am I - how old are the skates???? We will see . . .

That's all folks!

Tequila!

I have a little headache this morning, really, it is a hangover!! I had a twins Club board meeting last night and we ended up at the Mexican Restaurant next door to our meeting - drinking margaritas!! I didn't drive, so I lived it up!! To be honest, I remember getting home, but I don't remember putting on my pj's or falling asleep . . . I just woke up this morning! It was a blast!! I am so cool, but old, because, I was drinking in a restaurant not a bar, and I was home at 11:30 not like 2Am. But there was some retribution for the binge b/c I was in charge of Baby A's Valentine Party today and 12 3-year olds can be really loud and busy! (Let me teach middle school anytime!) However, it was fun and the girls came home with a pretty big chocolate stash for me to eat this afternoon!! LOVE IT! Too bad this will be the last year they don't realize, mommy checking the bags, means, mommy takes out the good stuff!

I didn't skate today :( My skates are still not here, the shopguy said sometimes they get stuck in customs in Canada. That is so unfair!! The headquarters is in MN but they bring them in from the the North! Yikes, I knew I shoud have ordered them off EBAY!! AAGH!!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!! Enjoy!! Calories don't count today!! SO LIVE IT UP!!

hum, which one do I want to play in . . .

Ears, Ears, Ears

My ears hurt. When my girls get their next ear infection, I am going to be very sympathetic. Yesterday afternoon, I went to my 'real' doctor and she gave me different antibiotics becuase I felt like I was getting sick again. I started them last night and still today, you can still feel every lymph node in my throat and neck! Yuck! But I do feel okay today, I just feel guilty. Before when a and b have had ear infections I have not slowed down our schedule one bit - but every ear infection from now on will require two at-home-movie days becuase I understand the pain!!

The roofers came today!! YEAH! Because it is supposed to rain tomorrow!! So they banged away, and then they came inside to look at the attic because they said, "We ain't never seen a roof bulge like that before, it looks like you have a coffin under the shingles!" Hum, nice picture, but I guess we forgot to tell them we are a mafia family!! Just kidding about the mafia thing, but they were amazed that the roof had held all that water under the shingles without crashing through the plywood roof. Nice, Just what I always wanted was an indoor swimming pool! Anyway, they fixed it, we will pay their fees and hopefully, and we will only have to keep one child home from college!! Just kidding again!

Later today I am expecting a shipment of furniture. My stepdad Joe, has this antique table (complete with clawed feet) and buffet that he wanted us to have. It belonged to his grandparents and has been in the family ever since. His boys were not interested, but I thought, why not. However, now I will have two buffets, a china cabinet and a table that seats 20. Hum, I guess we will just have a really big dining room and use the family room in the front of the house to hold the overflow of furniture. But, we will be able to seat all of you for dinner when you come to visit. I will take pictures when I get it into the house! Poor Goose is going to loose his sofa, b/c it is not going to fit in beside the 78 inch long buffet/sideboard. DH said we could put the sofa under the deck in the backyard - maybe we have been living in GA too long!!

Okay, have a great weekend. I am bummed b/c it is going to rain and snow all morning tomorrow - and with my ear/throat/whatever infection I am going to sit it out. :( I really needed to burn all those calories. But there is another March 11th that runs around our mall and local favorite shopping center. It starts and ends at Starbucks - and I think that would be fun too. I can run by a Pottery Barn, Barnes and Noble, a movie theater, Toys R Us, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, DSW, Office Max, Babies R'us, Petsmart, Macys and the mall, Circuit City, Linens and Things, Old Navy, Target, about 20 restaurants, all the little stores between the big ones, Spa Sydell, Waffle House, and then a quiet road until we finish at the Starbucks. There will be lots to look and it is mostly flat!! Maybe I will call it my "Material Girl Run!" hehe - wish my body looked like Madonna's!! Did you see her perform at the Grammys? Wow! Okay, I am getting random now, 'talk' to you all later!! K outie

Fun Read

I read this and had to copy it here . . . it is pretty funny!

The following came from an anonymous Mother in Austin, Texas:

1.) A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. house
4 inches deep.

2.) If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with
roller blades, they can ignite.

3.) A 3-year old boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded
restaurant.

4.) If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong
enough to rotate 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman
cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread
paint on all four walls of a 20x20 ft. room.

5.) You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. When
using a ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times
before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

6.) The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit
by a ceiling fan.

7.) When you hear the toilet flush and the words "uh oh", it's already
too late

8.) Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

9.) A six-year old Boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a
36-year old man says they can only do it in the movies.

10.) Certain Lego's will pass through the digestive tract of a 4-year
old boy.

11.) Play dough and microwave should not be used in the same sentence.

12.) Super glue is forever.

13.) No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still
can't walk on water.

14.) Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

15.) VCR's do not eject "PB &J" sandwiches even though TV commercials
show they do.

16.) Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

17.) Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

18.) You probably DO NOT want to know what that odor is.

19.) Always look in the oven before you turn it on; plastic toys do not
like ovens.

20.) The fire department in Austin, TX has a 5-minute response time.

21.) The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms
dizzy.

22.) It will, however, make cats dizzy.

23.) Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

24.) 80% of Men who read this will try mixing the Clorox and brake
fluid.

Those who pass this on to almost all of their friends, with or without
boys do it because:
a) For those with no children - this is totally hysterical!
b) For those who already have children past this age, this is
hilarious.
c) For those who have children this age, this is not funny.
d) For those who have children nearing this age, this is a warning.
e) For those who have not yet had children, this is birth control

Hum . . .

I'm a Chevrolet Corvette!

You're a classic - powerful, athletic, and competitive. You're all about winning the race and getting the job done. While you have a practical everyday side, you get wild when anyone pushes your pedal. You hate to lose, but you hardly ever do.

Take the Which Sports Car Are You? quiz.

Does this mean I am old and a classic already??

Whew!

Well, after 2 straight days of sleep and lots of antibiotics - I am feeling much better!! I love tylenol with codeine - I could sleep through anything - except the dry mouth from breathing with my mouth open - but man, gotta love drugs!!
Anyway, I did go skating today! I just love the endorphins - now there is a drug that I am addicted to! But I think the 10k might be off the calendar for Saturday - but I will run tomorrow and Friday and see what happens! It is a really, really flat course and runs along the river. It is a really pretty drive in the car and I think it would be nice to look at it at a much slower pace . . . Okay, convince me to get my big ole' butt out there on Saturday!!! If I can breathe out of my nose without the sudafed, if my lungs are clear . . . help, I need some friendly pushing here. . .

Sick

I have been so sick this weekend, I slept for about 48 hours with jello breaks! My throat felt like daggers and I had a fever of almost 102. So, I thought I would say hello, I am still alive, but just too tired to type today . . . I hope that you all had a good weekend, outie, Karen

Friday, February 03, 2006

Phew . . .

Guess I really am qualified to tutor!!

You Passed 8th Grade Science

Congratulations, you got 8/8 correct!

I am feeling like Annette today, I have a stuffy head, my ears are blocked, and my body is achy.
And my muscles are killing me! My friend did a workout bootcamp last month. She got up a 5:30AM and went to a field where an instructor yells at them for an hour - anyway, she told me that she can now do 30 push-ups in a minute without a problem. So silly old me thinks. "hum, I wonder how many I could do??" Well the answer to that is a little embarrasing. I think I might have to do more upper body exercise. But if you really want to know, I pushed myself and did 15. BUT OH MY GOSH - I am so sore today! My boobs, my arms feel like I was in a fight yesterday! So, the moral of the story, do just a few push-ups, don't overdo it! I am not signing up for bootcamp, that is for sure. I really don't care how many inches she has lost, b/c if someone screams in my face -that really wouldn't motivate me AT ALL!! This seems really random today, must be the sudafed!! Okay, have a good day!! Karen

I won the skate lottery!!

I am so excited, I talked to pro-shop guy and he said that my boots were back-ordered :( but that Riedell sent (they are in-transit) an upgraded pair for the same price since I had had to wait for so long!! I am so excited!! SO I am updating my skate picture for you!! I am so psyched - can you tell!! DH thought I was so excited b/c I won the lottery - well, not really, but I did win because the upgrade was way-out of my price range!!! Well, I have to feed the girls now before my student arrives - you know, I gotta pay the ice skating bills now!!

Well, I didn't chicken out today . . .

Because - I talked to one of the coaches on the ice today - and she knows my old coach!! I couldn't believe it and she said that she was amazed that I could skate as well as I could after 10 years and on rental blades!! So I asked her for a lesson next week!! Okay, I know, - she might just be a very good saleswoman - but I just want one lesson to give me something to work on! AND NO - my new skates aren't here yet. I found the pro - shop manager and asked him 'where the heck are they' and he thought that I had already picked them up. But I haven't even paid for them yet - so,
AAAAAGGGGHHHH! I WANT MY SKATES!! (Temper Tantrum here! Or the little Skate - Diva - in - me!!)
Well, that is it for me, I have to wait, 4 days to skate again!

And for the deep question of the day . . . Do your parents tell you everything about what is going on in their lives??

Have a great evening!! I am going to ogle pictures of my skates on the internet!! :)

LOST

LOST IS A REPEAT!!! I AM SO BUMMED!! I HATE REPEATS - THE ARE UNFAIR!! I know that you all hate repeats too. It is okay to watch a Dawson's Creek, or 90210, or Buffy because we know it is over. But a new show - c'mon. It annoys your viewers - seriously. So - I just watched my Recorded American Idol - lets hope it doesn't annoy me too . . .
But I am going skating tomorrow!! So that will cheer me up!
